Crocodoc Brings Online Commenting and Markup to Any Document

crocodoc logoCrocodoc simply and elegantly allows you to view any work or image file on your computer including Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint, PDF’s and even images beautifully in your browser. Next you have the ability to mark them up, add notations, yellow highlights and even draw arrows and graphics right on your screen. You are also able to share and embed these files anywhere you desire online. And as yo can see in the graphic below, track who has done what with the original. Simple and elegant – and it works flawlessly.

All of these edits do not actually touch the original document, but rather are all created on an “invisible overlay” over the top of your documents. This leaves the original in it’s original form. Whether you are working in a collaborative team effort on your next RFP response, or are simply requesting a quick opinion on your latest presentation, it all is viewable in a crisp, beautiful display on your screen. You no longer need to deal with PDF’s, faxes, scans to note your suggestions, nor do you have to worry about which version of software each other has.

Crocodoc was founded by the same group of MIT entrepreneurs behind WebNotes, an acclaimed research management tool used by academics and professionals around the world to collect, organize, and share information online. They have clearly learned from WebNotes and have brought their experiences to Crocodoc, delivering results every step of the way. They have built in an active User Forum where their users can suggest additional features and capabilities.

Sign-up is free for individual users and options are available for organizations to use either internally or externally.

Crocodoc is worth checking out and to have in your tool bag. When the need arises, you will be prepared with a web tool that delivers results. What creative uses will you put Crocodoc to work on?

Finally a great product for making annotations on the web.  I like that I can share through the web, a document with highlighted notes for easier review and feedback.  Does it also connect and share with the social networks? http://bit.ly/ayeen2
