iPad App for Outside Sales Reps

iPad App for Outside Sales Reps

If you are in sales and have an iPad, you have probably been looking for an iPad app designed exclusively for your needs.  The first iPad powered App designed specifically for outside sales reps and account managers is now available.

IMPORTANT: Since this post was originally published, Sales Beaver in this format has been removed from the market. For more information about the change and the replacement for iPad users, click here.

Sales Beaver is the App and in spite of it’s cutesy name, this application actually performs very well.  And did I mention that the price is FREE for the Lite version, which is the version that I am highlighting in this post.  It allows you to manage your contacts, send email’s using one of several email templates for various sales activities like introduction, appointment follow-up, thank you’s and for any other purpose that your selling process would benefit from.

The app takes advantage of the touch screen, entering information or sending an email are accomplished very easily.  With the instant on capabilities of the iPad, I have found that I enter the information more frequently throughout the day, rather than batching data entry until the end of the day or when I find time.  I have also discovered that I am more likely to send an email out of Sales Beaver immediately after a meeting, as opposed to waiting until I can find a connection and fire up the laptop.

Key features include:

  • Customer Contact Records
  • Email templates (you create standard email messages for various purposes)
  • Follow-up scheduling
  • Driving Directions
  • Customizable categories and Fields
  • Export capabilities
  • Boss Management (this allows you to send information that your boss asks for on a regular basis)

The screen layout is well designed and very intuitive.

Don’t look for this app to be a do everything CRM tool like Salesforce.com.  It is not.  It is however, a web tool that manages your contact and email activity with ease.  For most sales people, that is all they really want to do anyway.

The now offer an “Expanded” version and have a “Collaborative” version in the works.  If you are interested, they are discussed on the Sales Beaver web site.  Sales Beaver Lite is available for download in the Apple App Store now.

Has anyone come across other sales tools on the iPad that you can share?

Does your product have the capability to show when the sales person called on the customer in the past? Dates? On one screen, easily called up?

Thanks!!!

Excited to find this page, detailing yet another sales-related app that’s being crafted for use on the iPad. As a marcomm firm, we see the writing on the wall, evidenced by the flurry of iPad’s being acquired by corporations, and as such, we’ve launched a separate iPad/touch device development arm, to respond to the opportunities created by field sales folks wanting really excellent, branded and touch-driven demos. Every time I spot a story of yet another solid app appearing for this unique audience, it confirms that the market is there and is growing. Thanks for sharing this!

I saw a great application of an IPad on a sales call the other day. The Sales Manager had his open and was taken notes while his rep conducted the meeting. The manager had recorded the audio and used it to coach the rep afterward. Simple but effective.

Hello All,

My apologies for being late to this conversation. My team has been getting lots of requests for the ability to import contacts from the iPad contacts application, so we are finalizing that new features over the next couple of days. Today, Apple shipped our Sales Beaver Lite 1.1.1… via the App store. It should automatically install itself and use your existing contacts.

We are eager to make this tool for for the outside sales professional. Feel free to drop us a line and give us your feedback. http://www.salesbeaver.com or email: beaver@rcconsulting.com

Thanks,

Richard

I switched to a Mac a while back… and the one thing that I missed was a good CRM. I looked everywhere and the only things I found were either too much for a one-man operation or just plain not any good. I downloaded SalesBeaver and forgot about it… and kept up my search for a good software program (I really want one that can be on my Mac and iPad and sync with each other).

I played with ACT for a while (through Parallels on the Mac), but it always slows my computer down when Windows is running. Then I remembered SalesBeaver and opened it up again. It is exactly what I was looking for. (Still would like it to work without multiple copies of different programs, on my Mac too)
But, even if I just use the app on my iPad, it is still the best program I’ve seen.

I’m getting the “Expanded” version in the next few minutes. Can’t wait.

Thanks for being the first to create a great CRM that is simple, clean and yet powerful. Now maybe I can catch up with all of the customers who have fallen through the cracks!

I’ve thought so often since I heard about IPads how incredible they would be to sales teams everywhere. It’s nice to see developers finally getting up with the technology to make our lives easier. Thanks for posting this.

Seth, Some sales industries are adapting faster than others, but I agree with you that this can be a powerful tool when that apps catch up. Can you imagine being in sales without a cell phone?

What apps have you found helpful on the iPad so far?
