When Is The Best Time to Contact a Prospect? Answer Here

A new web tool is providing an answer to the question “When is the best time to connect with my prospect?”. There have been countless eBooks, blog posts, speeches, presentations and studies that attempt to answer that question.

A very innovative new web tool called LookAcross provides a fresh new perspective and data points to answer the question posed above. By leveraging the power of the social web, LookAcross tells you the best time and way to reach someone, as well as provides easy access to much of their professional presence online.

LookAcross scans the online activity and history of the individual you want to contact. It then graphically shows you the times and days that they are most active online.  It goes so far as to tell you what time and day of the week you are most likely to reach your prospect.  Do I have your attention?

Let’s say that you want to contact me.  You log in to LookAcross via your Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook account. You then select the data type for your prospect from the following five choices currently available:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Company Name
  • Jigsaw

Covers most of the bases I am using in my prospecting work.

For this example, let’s use Twitter. Enter my twitter name (@milesaustin) and select ‘Find Connection’. This is where it gets interesting.

Below is the screen view of the recommendations for when it is most likely that I will be online and active:

Notice the overall recommendation of Best Time to Connect – for me it is Tuesday at 4:00 pm.

If it is now Tuesday evening and you would like to see when the best time on Wednesday might be, select Wednesday from the pull-down menu and voila’,

here is what the results come back as:

LookAcross Twitter Screen for Wednesday

Looks like I am most active at 6:00 am and that between 4:00 am and 9:00 am will typically find me online and working. Notice that if you and I are in different time zones, both times will show on the screen.

If you now would like to learn a bit more current info about me, select LinkedIn from the drop down menu used previously, select “LinkedIn” and enter my name.

LookAcross brings back possible matches for you to consider and ensure it is the correct person as shown here:

After clicking on the correct profile, my relevant LinkedIn information is now shown on the screen as shown below in this screen shot:

By selecting the appropriate connection, the LinkedIn icon is now added to the profile for me.  Notice that you will now be shown what time is best to connect with me on LinkedIn (Sunday at 11:00 am) or select Wednesday again and note that most likely time is 5:00 am to 6:00 am again.

You get the flow. Facebook, Jigsaw and more are additional data sources that can be added to the Connection Detail on each person you are hoping to connect with.  You are creating a Prospect List of sorts, and each profile is showing the most likely time to contact that person.

Like any data, it does not guarantee to work every time, but the odds are stacked very high in your favor when using the information LookAcross provides.

Here is how to sign up for a LookAcross account:

Select your preferred signin service between Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn and you are now able to try LookAcross for yourself.  It is still in beta and the team at LookAcross is hoping to have your input and suggestions as you use their solution.

I have been using LookAcross for more than a month now.  I have had some prospects respond in as little as two minutes, and yes, there have been some instances when nothing transpired.  When  Meetul Shah , co-founder and CEO of LookAcross first connected to me, it was via Twitter, and as he recalls the scenario,

“I had a Twitter reply within 3 minutes and a phone conversation before the night was over.”

I look at all web tools as a way for me to gain a competitive advantage by enabling me to be there faster, better informed and with the right information and services at the best time for the prospective client. Look Across meets my criteria on several fronts and I highly recommend it to my readers and clients.

As is the case for all the web tools I share in this blog, I receive no compensation from LookAcross in any way.
